On March 3, the council announced that 63.8 per cent of students will start at their first-choice school.
In total, 91.5 per cent of children have secured a place at one of their top six preferred schools.
The borough received 3,104 applications this year, with 77.5 per cent of students set to attend a secondary school in Greenwich.
Despite a decline in applications this year, which is 5 per cent less than in 2024, this is attributed to the expected decrease in demand for secondary school places in London.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Our schools strive to ensure every child and young person has an equal opportunity to succeed and to reach their full potential.
“It’s great to see that majority of our residents will be heading to a school in our borough and that it is their first preference.
“We have brilliant secondary schools, inspiring teachers and an engaging curriculum for our new Year 7s to get stuck into.
“So, get those uniforms ironed and pencil cases filled because secondary school is in session.”
However, some families are still waiting for confirmation of their child’s place due to the popularity of schools in the borough.
The council is working hard to allocate these places as soon as possible and aims to provide an update by the end of March.
