The emergency services were called to Stifford, near Chafford Hundred, the A126 and A1012, around 8am today (April 5).
The injury suffered by the rider was described by an Essex Police spokesperson as “potentially serious”.
Video taken of the scene shows the fire service, ambulances and police blocking the westbound carriageway.
Eyewitnesses added that an air ambulance also landed.
One eyewitness told the Romford Recorder the crash happened right in front of them. They said: “It was a shocking scene to see.”
The westbound A13 is closed and all traffic is being held.
