Police were searching for a missing person when a body was found near the canal towpath between Alperton and Park Royal yesterday (January 15) at 2pm.
There has been a heavy police presence around the canal route which stretches between Alperton, near to Stonebridge and up to Abbey Road in Park Royal.
The body is still being formally identified and it is unclear whether the body found is the same missing person officers were looking for.
Circumstances about this death remain under investigation.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “As part of an ongoing search for a missing person, police recovered a body in Grand Union Canal at approximately 2pm on Wednesday (January 15).
“While we await formal identification we are in contact with his next of kin.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by officers from the North West BCU.”
