Patients across the borough have helped to rank their local doctors’ across several categories as part of the annual GP Patient Survey for NHS England.
Other categories of feedback include ease of phone contact, whether patients get to see their preferred GP often or not, amongst others.
The Robins Surgery in Harold Hill Health Centre saw the greatest percentage of survey respondents advise their experience of the practice’s receptionists to be negative.
According to the data, 41.31 per cent of patients said they found receptionists here to be unhelpful.
In Rainham, patients at the Rainham & Upminster Medical Centre reported the second highest levels of negative receptionist experience, with 33.28 per cent of patients confiding they found receptionists to be unhelpful.
At The New Medical Centre in Romford, 29.64 per cent of respondents said they found the receptionists unhelpful.
All three surgeries fall under the responsibility of the North East London Integrated Care System.
A spokesperson for NHS North East London said: “We are always keen to learn from patient feedback so the survey results give us valuable insight in helping us to support our GP practices to be as good as they possibly can be as well as informing our primary care priorities overall.

“Despite practices facing a growing and increasingly complex demand for their services, the 2025 survey results show more than eight in 10 people (86 per cent) across Havering found the reception and admin team at their GP practice helpful, and more than three-quarters (76 per cent) reported their experience of their surgery as ‘good’ overall, which is testament to the ongoing efforts of our GPs and primary care teams.
“However, we recognise there is room for improvement and are working closely with practices to address the issues raised. This includes supporting our GPs and practice staff to access professional training so they can expand the skills and expertise available to patients.
“Our aim is to ensure that people across north east London have access to high quality primary care services wherever they live.”
