The pensioner died in hospital two days after police were called to reports of a robbery in Goodchild Road on Tuesday (May 6).
He has been named locally as John and described by neighbours as a “lovely old Irishman”, PA reports.
Peter Augustine, 58, was arrested by police in Green Lanes, Hornsey, on Thursday (May 8). He was charged with robbery and murder yesterday (May 9).
The 58-year-old, from Green Lanes, will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today.
