Gallows Corner appears to be a hive of activity in the latest drone photos capturing the works’ progress, with construction workers and machinery spotted across the site.
No further progress seems to have been made at the eastern end of the new flyover along Southend Arterial Road (A127) – the end section continues to sit in line with Gallows Corner Retail Park.

However, ground works continue here with several cranes and diggers sitting on this part of the road.

Meanwhile, closer to the roundabout, a large hole has been carved out with steps appearing to lead down into it.

The Gallows Corner project – which is replacing the previous flyover alongside renewing water pipes underneath the junction – is now set to be completed in spring 2026 after Transport for London (TfL) announced delays in August.
TfL has not yet provided a specific reopening date for the junction and says that further details will be shared with the public by “early next year”.

When this paper asked TfL for an update on the progress at Gallows Corner we were directed to a previous statement on the delays.

Scott Haxton, TfL’s director of capital delivery, previously said: “We’re incredibly grateful to residents and businesses for their continued patience while we carry out these essential works at Gallows Corner.
“We understand how disruptive this has been, and we’re working with our partners to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.”
