Drone images have captured the latest progress of the Gallows Corner rebuilding project more than four months into the closure – and with an end date yet to be confirmed by Transport for London (TfL).
The new flyover structure is now beginning to take shape more fully, with only one section missing to join the stretch along the A127 Eastern Avenue East to the panels across the centre of the roundabout.

Progress appears to have accelerated over the past few weeks – after seemingly stalling at the start of October – with a large crane spotted last week and work getting underway on the central portion of the flyover.
However, there are still no steel supports in place along Southend Arterial Road, where Essex & Suffolk Water was initially supposed to be tunnelling to replace the water pipe under the road.
TfL has not confirmed a claim from Havering Chamber of Commerce that the entire scheme had to be “redesigned” after unexpected ground conditions led to delays

In a letter to businesses and residents in September, TfL said that construction of the new flyover is starting “primarily from the eastern side” – contrary to its original plan to construct from both east and west and meet in the middle.
Once all the steelworks and concrete panels are in place to form the new flyover deck, the finals stages are to join the panels together, waterproof the structure and resurface the carriageway.
