Aerial photos taken on September 18 show that more steel columns, steel beams and concrete panels have been laid to form the first section of the new flyover in Romford.
The newly-built section is along Eastern Avenue East and now stretches almost in line with Wax On car wash, next to the roundabout.

In a recent letter to businesses and residents, Transport for London (TfL) said that construction of the new flyover is starting “primarily from the eastern side” – despite its original plan to construct from both east and west and meet in the middle.

The letter added that TfL teams are also working to install new crossing points at the junction and upgrade the drainage.

TfL has still not confirmed a new completion date for the Gallows Corner project, following a delay announced at the end of August.
Havering politicians have urged the company to provide a timeline, with MP Julia Lopez calling for a “clear and honest update” on the closure for residents.

After the delay was confirmed, business owners in the area told this paper they have left questioning how they will “survive”.
Terry Blackman, owner of Terry’s Barbers and Hairdressers in Masefield Crescent, said the delay was the “worst news we could have had”.

Scott Haxton, TfL’s director of capital delivery, previously told this paper: “We’re working closely with Essex & Suffolk Water to complete the renewal of both vital pieces of infrastructure and minimise the impacts of the delay.
“We are very sorry for the disruption caused to local residents and businesses.”
