Fyfield is a village and civil parish in the Epping Forest district.
With no direct train or Tube station of its own, visitors must make their way via car or jump on the Central line to Epping before catching a bus the rest of the way.
From Romford, the journey takes around 30 minutes by car.
The village is largely situated along a stretch of the B184, mainly including Ongar Road and Dunmow Road.
Nearby, the River Roding flows southernly through Fyfield and around the back of pubs.
A stile to the rear of The Black Bull inn takes you into the surrounding fields and along the river, with the pub saying there are “miles and miles of footpaths to explore, stunning countryside and abundant wildlife”.
The pub garden of The Queen’s Head looks out onto the river, with a willow tree nearby and benches by the river bank.

A 13th century grade listed watermill can also be found along the River Roding at the mill pond.
Fyfield is thought to be home to the oldest inhabited timber-framed building in England, known as Fyfield Hall, which has a listed status and ties to the 12th and 13th centuries.
The village has a single post office to offer, which also acts as the local village store.
