Havering has no shortage of cosy pubs but these four, all with real fireplaces, are some of the highest rated on Google.

The Archers in Main Road has an average Google rating of 4.6 out of five stars and was formerly known as The White Hart.
Less than a month ago an evidently satisfied customer left a five star review and wrote: “The pub was clean and tidy and was really warm with the open fire on.
“I had the festive burger, was really good and will definitely be back again! Highly recommend especially in the winter months as it was nice and cosy!”
Several punters deem The Archers a great place to watch football too, perfect for the Premier League’s packed-out festive schedule.
The Ship, Gidea Park

One of Havering’s oldest pubs The Ship, also in Main Road, is believed to have first been built at some point in the 1600s.
The pub’s website describes it as “a genuine treasure” that retains its picture postcard appearance.
It averages a 4.5 out of five Google rating and several reviews mention the boozer’s “cosy” atmosphere.
One punter said: “Great historic English pub ambiance, including a brick fireplace that perfectly complements their home-cooked meals.”
The Thatched House, Upminster

In St Mary’s Lane, The Thatched House dates back to the 19th Century and has an average Google rating of 4.3.
It no longer has a thatched roof, but last month, one satisfied customer left a five-star review and highlighted the dining area’s “romantic atmosphere” and blazing fire.
Another customer visited from Australia during a half term break and said that despite the crowds, “the fire was roaring, food great and the staff smiled”.
Earlier this week someone summed the boozer up as a “charming pub, cosy warm and beautifully decorated for Christmas”.
The Huntsman and Hounds, Upminster

The Huntsman and Hounds in Ockendon Road has a 4.1 average Google rating.
The boozer – more than 268 years old according to owner Ember Inn’s website – serves up “hearty pub food with a great atmosphere”.
One customer, who visited in recent cold weather, described the fireplace as a “cheerful addition”.
Another reviewer wrote: “The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, and the service was exceptional.”
