The countdown was for Barnet’s mayor Cllr Danny Rich to switch on the fountain in the middle of Neighbourhood Square, which was lit up with an array of colours
“We must have inspiring open spaces as well as building good homes,” the mayor insisted. “We hope people come together and make new connections.”
The October 23 opening sparked a snappy firework display that lit up the evening sky.
The new piazza marks a milestone in the expanding development with 1,000 people already moved in and many more to follow.
Neighbourhood Square is inspired by European piazzas and sits at the heart of the burgeoning Brent Cross Town construction, ready to form part of its future ‘high street’.
