On a recent visit to the town centre, I walked past Filoxenia in High Street.
The restaurant is a popular recommendation on TikTok, drawing people in with its Mediterranean feel.
I couldn’t think of a better spot to grab a coffee whilst the sun was shining and the temperature reaching the high 20s.
I grabbed a table outside and browsed the menu, which offers meals from breakfast through to dinner.

A member of staff kindly talked me through the menu and explained some of the traditional offerings on the menu.
I opted for their iced espresso as a refreshing mid-morning pick-me-up.
The coffee was refreshing but strong – just what I needed to fight the sleepy spell of the sun (Image: Newsquest) Though simple, the coffee was just what I was looking for – offering a deep and strong flavour, whilst retaining a little fruitiness to the roast.
It was the perfect beverage to sip slowly.
Inside the restaurant is even more special, with clean, stone-textured white walls, and clever alcoves.
It truly felt as though I was thousands of miles from Bromley’s High Street and as if I had just stepped foot into some Greek dream.

The bar has been decorated with pampas grasses in vases, with pops of colour from the orange cushioned seating and greenery.
The name Filoxenia refers to the act of taking care of a guest and the friendly staff truly made this a reality.
If you’re looking for an escape away with a more appealing price tag, there’s one right on our doorstep.
