Apex Food Store in Farnham Road was visited by inspectors from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) last month.
Details of the visit have now been made public revealing that the store, which specialises in various meats, groceries and snacks, was rated a zero out of five.
The inspections observe businesses’ hygienic food handling, the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building and management of food safety.
This includes the preparation, cooking and storage of food, hand washing facilities and good ventilation, and safety checks in place at the site.
In all three inspection areas, Apex Food Store was told that ‘urgent improvement is necessary’ for it to meet regulations.
It is not the first negative inspection the business has received.

In 2023, FSA inspectors also rated the business a zero for its food hygiene rating.
The ratings do not take into account pricing or the quality of customer service and experience on offer.
