The Office star, 61, purchased the sprawling Hampstead property in March last year.
The house has nine bedrooms, a spa, and its own gym.
He shared a photo of the hallway on Instagram, showing off the white walls, marble floors, and sweeping white staircase – and a plastic washing basket in the background.
The Extras actor, who is wrapping up the first leg of his Mortality standup tour, joked in the caption: “I call this piece ‘Laundry Basket on a Bench in The Hall.’”
However, many of his fans were distracted by the modern and minimalist aesthetic, joking that it reminded them of a “private hospital” or a horror movie.
One fan joked: “Love what you have done to the place, has that real psychopath mentality ward vibes.”
Another added: “Must be weird living in a private hospital,” while a third posted: “Parkour palatial meets A Clockwork Orange.”
“Haters gonna say, you need some furniture,” someone else commented.
Gervais shares the home with his partner Jane Fallon, 64, who he has been with for more than 40 years.
The comedian and the author previously lived in a £10.8 million home in Hampstead.
They also have a riverside home in Marlow, Bucks, and two apartments in New York.
Last summer, Gervais admitted their newest Hampstead mansion is unlikely to be their “forever home” because Fallon doesn’t think the property will be practical when they’re older.
“I thought the last house was the one I was going to die in,” he said in a vlog posted on X in August.
“But I didn’t die and I wanted a tennis court so we had to move to a bigger house with a bigger garden just so we could get a tennis court and I just thought this is amazing, this is perfect. It’s not even finished yet but I love it.
“But the other day, Jane went, ‘We can’t live here when we’re 80.’ So that’s like a ticking clock. She said, ‘There’s all these stairs.’ So I’m going to be moving when I’m 80.”
