Anita Nicole, a former student of St Gregory’s Catholic Science College in Kenton, has landed the leading role in ‘Hoodminister’.
The new musical follows the journey of Sydalia Walker, a young Jamaican migrant who becomes the UK’s first Black female Prime Minister.
The production, which will debut on May 1 and 2 at the Canada Water Theatre as part of the Peckham Fringe Festival, is a blend of physical theatre, song, and dance, exploring themes of faith, resilience, and power.
Peckham Fringe has previously been a launchpad for shows that have achieved national acclaim and transferred to the West End.
Miss Nicole, who grew up in Harrow and went to The BRIT School, has transitioned from being an artist developed by Warner Music to theatre actress, with this her first leading role.
She hopes her story will inspire other young people from the area.
The Canada Water Theatre is located at 21 Surrey Quays Rd, London SE16 7AR.
