The man has been named locally as Billy, a 20-year-old a man who was reported missing shortly before his death.
Police were called to the tracks a short distance from Erith station on Monday (March 24), at 8.15am, to reports of a casualty.
Emergency services arrive and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Today (March 25), flowers have been laid near gates to the track.
Alongside it is a large red balloon shaped like a heart and a card attached.
Police investigations to establish the circumstances leading to the death are ongoing.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “The incident remains under investigation, we can’t discuss personal details of the deceased at this stage as enquiries continue.”
The incident caused major disruption on both Southeastern and Thameslink services, as trains were unable to run on the Woolwich line for hours.
