Lisa Avery, lifestyle lead at Heathfield Court, said: “We are so happy to have helped Sandy and Barbara to celebrate their special day.
“We found two little bride and groom teddies to decorate their table, and we made two anniversary keepsakes for them to treasure, one of which included a poem that my colleague Jane had written especially for them.”
The care home’s lifestyle team organised an Italian-themed meal with family, complete with balloons, a singer, and a special cake.
When asked the secret to a long and happy marriage, 91-year-old Reginald said: “I always pretend to agree with everything Barbara says.”

The couple first met while working at Deinhard Wine Importers.
Barbara was an office junior and Reginald had just returned from National Service in Egypt. They married on June 4, 1960, in Dulwich.
She said: “I remember it being the hottest day of the year, and I struggled immensely in my wedding dress, which was made by a friend of my mother.”
Reginald said: “We were both quite nervous on our wedding day, but the worries soon turned to laughter.
“My sister and her husband started having an argument and Barbara and I found this highly amusing.”

Barbara lives in the care home’s Sapphire suite, which supports residents living with dementia, while Reginald lives in the residential suite.
Home manager Nicola Martin said: “We support Barbara and Sandy to spend quality time together as a couple.
“They have their meals together in the bistro, spend time in the garden helping Lisa with the gardening, and join in with lots of the activities together.”
Their son Anthony Sanderson said: “We are so pleased with everything that Nicola and her team have done for Mum and Dad to make their special day a memorable one.
“And we really appreciate all of the hard work everyone puts into the care and support of our loved ones.”
