As part of the 2025 annual canvass of electors, letters were sent out on Thursday, August 21, following email notifications.
Council officials have stressed that being registered is crucial, as it can impact your eligibility for a mortgage, loan, or even a mobile phone contract.
It also determines your right to vote in future elections.
Every year, by law, the Epping Forest district conducts a canvass to ensure the information on the electoral register remains correct and current.
Recipients will notice the envelope, addressed to ‘The Residents’, contains instructions on necessary actions.
Households receiving a white letter must respond only if there are updates or corrections to be made.
In contrast, those receiving a yellow letter must reply even if no changes are needed.
Responses can be made via the internet, a landline, or a mobile phone by September 5.
Your letter’s front page contains a two-part security code required for any automated replies.
Neglecting to answer will result in follow-ups by council officers, burdening Council Tax.
Residents are reminded that the council intends to use digital communication wherever feasible to cut costs and simplify processes.
Queries can be directed to the council’s Electoral Services team.
