The Cottis Yard car park in Epping will be closed on Sunday, November 16, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
This is to allow for the completion of essential maintenance on the car park’s fire alarm system.
Epping Forest District Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure during the start of the festive period but said the closure was “unavoidable” to ensure the safety of both visitors and maintenance staff.
Councillor Ken Williamson, who is responsible for shaping the district, said: “Closing the car park as people are beginning their Christmas shopping is not ideal, but this temporary closure was, unfortunately, unavoidable.
“Following extensive investigations into the alarm system, repairs and enhancements have been installed.
“The final part of this work is in the entrance area, so closing its access will ensure the health and safety of those who would have been visiting the car park and our maintenance team.”
