Three high-tech barrows and an electric tipper vehicle are being used on the rounds by Haringey Council’s street cleansing team.
“This equipment means streets and bins can be hosed down more effectively,” said Haringey Council cabinet member for placemaking and local economy Cllr Ruth Gordon.
“The electric barrows will improve cleansing, with high pressure water that improves the look of our streets and make it easier to transport waste.”
The barrows have state-of-the-art cold pressure washers to tackle dirt and spillages on pavements.
The tipper vehicle cleans litter bins, washes pavements and empties the new dual litter and recycling bins that have also been introduced. It can respond rapidly to any large spillages on the streets of Tottenham.
The operation follows a similar strategy in Wood Green that is said to have improved street cleansing by using environmentally-friendly technology.
