The London Fire Brigade was called to Hertford Road, Enfield, shortly after 3.15pm on Sunday, August 10, following 12 calls from the public about the incident.
The fire affected half of the first floor and the whole of the loft of a semi-detached house.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Crews from Enfield, Chingford, Edmonton, and Tottenham responded to the scene.
One of the brigade’s 32-metre ladders was used as a water tower to help fight the flames from above.
Hertford Road was closed between Putney Road and Bullsmoor Lane.
The London Fire Brigade advised people to avoid the area where possible.
A spokesperson for the brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a house fire in Hertford Road, Enfield.”
The spokesperson added: “Half of the first floor and the entire loft of a semi-detached house are on fire.”
