In 2013, the Royal Mint released a set of £2 coins to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Tube.
One of the coins was designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and features an image of the front of a train.
The other has the recognisable London Underground roundel engraved on one side and was inspired by Edwina Ellis.
An eBay seller based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, has listed one of the latter items for sale on eBay for £8,586.72.
The coin is described as “a rare collectable that captures the essence of the iconic transportation system” and “a tribute to the historic network that has woven the fabric of the city for over a century”.
“Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the coin showcases a unique design that resonates with both numismatists and transportation enthusiasts,” the posting says.
“Its value lies not only in its face but also in its symbolic significance, making it a noteworthy addition to any collection.”
