Shona McGarty played the popular Whitney Dean from 2008 until leaving Albert Square last year.
Now, it looks like fans of the BBC soap won’t have to wait long to find out what her next steps are.

Another picture also showed her stood next to musician and record producer Steve Anderson.
She captioned: “My happy place! Working with @mrsteveanderson is an absolute dream, we got so much accomplished in our studio session yesterday, and I feel it is all coming together nicely.
“Do you guys want a little sneak peek at something we recorded?”
Fans were quick to note that Steve has worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue on her tours and albums, and even helped write and produce songs for Britney Spears, Westlife, Leona Lewis and Girls Aloud.
One fan posted underneath: “No way! This is awesome!”
While another said: “Yes! Can’t wait to hear your music Shona.”
TV presenter Laura Whitmore commented: “Yes Shona! Love that you’re making music x”
Why did Whitney leave EastEnders?
In 2023, it was announced that Whitney would be leaving the show in early 2024, after Shona chose to quit her role after over 15 years.
Whitney’s final storylines built towards her wedding with fiancé Zack Hudson.
