Drapers’ Multi Academy Trust has submitted a planning application for new fencing and gates at the front of both Drapers’ Academy and Drapers’ Maylands Primary School.
This is proposed to be installed along the front boundary with Settle Road, lining the open plaza area between the two schools, as well as the front of the primary school.
The plaza between the two schools has no fencing, while the fencing in front of Drapers’ Maylands Primary is set to be replaced.
According to the planning documents, the aim of the proposal is to “improve safeguarding” at the schools.
The planning statement added that the fencing would stretch to 130 metres in total, and would have a green mesh finish to match the existing in front of Drapers’ Academy.

Also included in the plans are multiple pedestrian gates to provide access to the plaza, which are proposed to be manually operated with an intercom through to reception.
Havering Council is set to make a decision on the application by September 26.
If approved, works are set to be completed between September and October this year.
