If, like me, you’ve watched Disney and Pixar’s famous film about the adventures of one culinary gifted rat in Paris and used to wonder what the food would taste like – this experience is a game-changer.
Taste Film is the popular London experience located in The Parlor – a cosy little pub in Kensal Rise – where you get to have a dining experience where you eat and drink what you’re watching on screen.

Over the years they’ve had many films from Hunger Games to the 2014 film Chef and of course Ratatouille.
So being a major fan of the film I headed over to try this popular experience, to see the film and taste its culinary delights.

The experience began with us being given a short quiz for a chance to win a prize, as well as a chance to order any additional drinks throughout the film, including a very fun aperitif made to look like the bottle that Anton Ego drinks.
Being a die-hard fan of the film I’m quite sad to say I didn’t win, although I did get a good score.
The first course to be served accompanies the scene where Remy is out in the meadow scavenging with his family, and is a delicious drink named ‘When Life Gives You Lemons’, made with vodka, vanilla, lemon and lavender.
It was so good and it honestly tasted like what I imagine the cake Émile finds in the garbage patch to be – but better.

Moving on, and the next course – which is served up around the time that Remy and Émile get struck by lightning on the roof – is named ‘Struck by Genius’, and consisted of marinated mushroom with Tomme de Chevre and rosemary wafers.
This course was delicious, with the cheesy sauce and the crunchy and slightly sweet crispy mushroom.

The third course takes place when Remy is creating his iconic soup, and I was so excited to try this as I always wondered what this enticing creation would have tasted like.
The course – named ‘Compliments to the Chef’ – is a soup dish served in a copper pot that’s a miniature version of the one on screen, and is a hearty leek and potato soup, with the option to add as many croutons and cheese shavings as you like.
This dish was so delicious, and I think it was one of my favourites out of the entire meal, and even came with a wooden spoon to taste it like Remy uses.

The main course was served around the time that Remy makes his famous sweet bread dish. named ‘Rodent Rendition’, and was a dish of slow cooked lamb with truffle croquettes and a small side of ratatouille.
This was such a fantastic take on the dish with succulent lamb, and the croquettes went really well with it, and it was one I could have eaten all over again.

Finally, as the meal was drawing to an end, we were served our final course – a dessert named ‘Gateautouille’ – a baked apple and almond cake with a fruit ratatouille, which was a really inventive way to tribute the iconic dish of the film.
After seeing so much hype about this popular and returning Taste Film experience, I can attest that I see why it’s such a staple in their line-up.

As Anton Ego says in the film “I will be returning soon, hungry for more.”
Ratatouille will be on at Taste Film until February 28, with the next films in the lineup including The Princess and The Frog, The Hunger Games, and Bridesmaids.
Tickets are priced at £77.50 a person with the option to have a vegan menu and non-alcoholic serving.
