Havering Council’s planning team has refused planning permission for a proposal which involved the change of use of Unit 3 at Detection House in Brooklands Approach.
The application included no plans for physical changes to the site, but involved converting the industrial unit – formerly used by a tyre company – into a place of worship.
It was unclear in the proposals the nature of the place of worship intended for the site.
One of the reasons the plans were refused was due to “insufficient information” about the intended use of the site, according to the decision notice.

The notice said: “Insufficient information has been provided with respect to the hours of use, the number of patrons and the nature of the operation of the proposed use.”
Planning officers therefore concluded that the development was likely to result in an “increase in on street parking”, as well as “unacceptable level of noise and disturbance” to nearby residents.
The decision notice adds that, because the proposal would result in the loss of industrial floorspace, it goes against planning policy.
