Police were called to Deans Lane, next to the John Keble Church, yesterday (January 9) after a man believed to be in is 40s was struck at 3.25pm.
He has been taken to hospital for treatment and remains there in a critical condition.
At the time he was reportedly walking with a woman and a child, but no one else was injured.
The driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Deans Lane was closed westbound between Sefton Avenue and Deans Way.
Diversions were also in place, with the 303 bus being detoured.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 3.25pm on Thursday (January 9) to reports of a car in collision with a male pedestrian in Deans Lane, Edgware.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. The pedestrian – a man believed aged in his 40s – was taken to hospital for treatment; he remains there in a critical condition.
“The man was walking with a woman and child at the time of the collision – there were no other injuries reported.
“The driver stopped at the scene – there is no arrest and enquiries continue.”
