At around 12pm today (March 29), police were called to the Dartford Crossing following welfare concerns for a man on the bridge.
As a result Lane 1 of the Dartford Crossing was closed for two hours whilst police responded to the incident.
Officers from Essex Police along with ambulance crews were called to the scene.
The man was led to safety by medical professionals.
Road closures remained until 2pm, with drivers being delayed for up to 60 minutes.
Closures have since been lifted.
In a statement Essex Police said: “We were called an incident on the Dartford Crossing bridge shortly after 12pm today (Saturday 29 March).
“Officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man on the bridge and worked alongside ambulance service colleagues at the scene.
“The man has been brought to safety and left in the care of medical professionals.
“This response necessitated the closure of the bridge to traffic.”
