The Karaoke Hole, Kingsland High Street, will shut its doors for the final time on January 31, bringing an end to nearly a decade of karaoke, cabaret, and community in the heart of Dalston.
The venue, known for its drag-hosted karaoke nights, has been described as the “bratty little sister” to Dalston Superstore and has built a loyal following within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
In a statement shared through Instagram, the team behind the bar said: “It’s with a heavy heart [that] we’re letting you all know the Karaoke Hole will be closing its doors.
“Our last song will be on Saturday January 31, so come sing and raise your glass with us one last time.”
They also thanked their supporters for making the venue what it became.
The statement said: “You’ve shaped the Karaoke Hole with every performance on our little stage and we want to thank you for your support.
“Come kiss the glitter curtains and stage goodbye!
“They’ve served us well.”
While the physical venue will close, the team have confirmed that the Karaoke Hole will live on through private events and touring performances.
Since its opening in 2018 beneath Voodoo Ray’s pizzeria, the Karaoke Hole has become a staple of London’s nightlife.
It has been home to a variety of drag shows, queer cabaret, and comedy.
Fans described the closure as “devastating” and said the bar will be “sorely missed.”
