The incident at Dagenham Heathway station was reported shortly after 9.25pm yesterday (July 16).
At the scene, officers searched the area but found no trace of a victim or anyone else involved.
A spokesperson for Transport for London confirmed that the station was closed “at the request of the police” from 9.50pm until the end of service.
An investigation has since been launched into the report.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police by texting 61016, quoting reference 655 of July 16.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at Dagenham Heathway station shortly after 9.25pm last night (16 July).
“Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the area but could not locate a victim or anyone else involved.
“An investigation is now underway and anyone with information is asked to contact officers by texting 61016 reference 655 of 16 July.”
