Havering Council has put forward a proposal for a new shared use route through the Centre of Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) campus in Marsh Way, as part of a wider active travel scheme in the area.
The path would allow pedestrians and cyclists to travel from the entrance to the site at the A13 westbound slip road, to the exit road at the junction with Marsh Way.

There is currently no public footway that through the CEME campus connecting with Marsh Way, which Havering Council describes in the planning documents as a “missing link” to the employment area in the London Riverside Business Improvement District (BID).
The proposed footway is one section of a wider route being delivered either side of the CEME site.
This route will introduce a segregated cycle path between A1306 and the A13, which will then link to an existing shared-use cycle lane passing underneath the A13 and down towards the CEME campus.
It is also intended to eventually connect to the proposed Beam Park station – and the nearby housing area – and the Ford Dagenham Plant.
As the CEME footway goes through private land, it is the only part of the route that requires planning permission.
Planning documents drawn up by Markides Associates reveal that the designs for the route were developed in consultation with CEME.
Pathway resurfacing, new signage, cycle markings and additional lighting are all included in the proposal.
