The Brothers’ Arms Pub, created by men’s pharmaceutical company Androlabs, has taken over Westow House in Crystal Palace, running for two weeks up until March 7.
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, two in five men die early in the UK and often this is caused by preventable health conditions.
Dubbed the UK’s “first men’s health pub”, this pop-up will feature a range of educational events, panels and talks, all geared around the goal of helping punters understand the importance of men’s health.
The pub will be hosting interactive events like a pub quiz, group discussions and documentary screenings.
These events are free and open to everyone, from a talk by guest speaker Steve Cardwell today (February 20) on fatherhood, to a big men’s health pub quiz on February 26, where punters can test their knowledge on men’s health and learn a thing or two in the process.
The two-week event will finish with a talk on March 6 named ‘What’s behind a male midlife change?”, led by Dr Janine David, a GP specialising in sexual health, and Ben Akers, the founder of Talk Club.
A statement from Androlabs says: “We’re dedicated to closing the male life expectancy gap. We are dedicated to men.
“Globally, men live on average five years fewer than women. And largely due to preventable reasons.”
