New data from the Road Condition Indicator (RCI) – which uses SCANNER (Surface Condition Assessment of the National Network of Roads) to assess road quality – reveals the current state of roads across England.
Each road is scored Green (no work needed), Amber (may need work soon), or Red (investigation required).
According to data, seven per cent of Croydon’s 48.5 miles of major A roads and motorways were scored Red, and a further 30 per cent of roads were scored Amber.
These figures are very similar to 2023, which had eight per cent Red, 31 per cent Amber and 61 per cent Green.
11 per cent of Croydon’s 432.2 minor roads were scored Red, while a further 52 per cent were scored Amber – the same as they were in 2023.
