The London Borough of Croydon has published its Members’ Allowance Scheme for 2025/26.
The new scheme, which took effect from April 1, outlines the basic and special responsibility allowances for council members, following an agreement by the council on February 26.
All council members will receive a basic allowance of £11,984.
The Civic Mayor and Deputy Civic Mayor will receive additional allowances of £16,298 and £8,149, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Elected Mayor of the Council will receive a total of £83,942, which includes the basic allowance.
The Statutory Deputy Mayor’s allowance is set at £31,112, while each of the seven cabinet members will receive £28,191.
Deputy cabinet members, with up to five positions, will get £5,629 each.
The Chair of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee will receive £21,466, while the Deputy Chair, who also serves as Chair of a Scrutiny Sub-Committee, will receive £8,880.
The Conservative Group Secretary and Chief Whip will receive £8,475 and £12,425, respectively.
The Chair of the Licensing Committee will receive £8,453, while the Chair of the Planning Committee will get £13,555.
The Chair of the Pension Committee and the Chair of the General Purposes Committee will receive £7,552 and £5,756, respectively.
The Leader of the Labour Group, who is also the Leader of the Opposition, will receive £18,405.
Each Deputy Leader of the Labour Group, with up to two positions, will receive £6,732.
Shadow Cabinet Members, with up to six positions, will receive £5,756 each.
The Labour Chief Whip and Labour Group Secretary will receive £12,425 and £8,475, respectively.
The Leader of the second largest opposition group, which must have a minimum of seven or more members, will receive £5,629.
The Vice Chair of the Scrutiny and Overview Committee, who also serves as Chair of a Scrutiny Sub-Committee, will receive £8,880.
The Chair of a Scrutiny Sub-Committee, with up to two positions, will receive £5,629 each.
The Chair of the Audit and Governance Committee will receive a co-optee allowance of £8,200.
The council has also made it clear that members are not entitled to apply for inclusion in the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Councillors may, however, claim travel and subsistence allowances for a range of out-of-borough approved duties.
