A man in his 40s was pronounced dead shortly after being found with gunshot wounds in Imperial Way on Thursday afternoon (June 19).

Officers were called to the scene at 5.04pm following reports of gunfire.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended and provided treatment, but the man could not be saved.

His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

Footage shared locally showed a large emergency services presence and a crowd gathered outside the Costco car park in the aftermath of the shooting.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten, who is heading up the investigation, said:

“This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time. Our team of specially trained officers are supporting them as our investigation progresses.

Our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge any witnesses to come forward and share information with us.”

Anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help is urged to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 6530/19JUN.To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
