The shots were reported around 10.30pm on Saturday (March 29) in Basil Gardens in the Shirley Oaks area.
The police were called but officers who attended could not find anyone who had been injured, nor any suspects.
An investigation is now underway and anyone with any information that may help is asked to alert the police.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 22:35hrs on Saturday, 29 March to Basil Gardens SE27 to reports of shots fired.
“Enquiries were carried out but no one with any injury could be found, nor trace of any suspects.
“Officers continue their investigation around the circumstances of the incident.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting ref CAD7892/29March.”
