The player, a man in his 30s, was arrested in Barnet in July 2022 after allegations that he raped a woman in her 20s the previous month.
While in custody he was also arrested over allegations of raping another woman in April and June 2021.
Police later confirmed no further action would be taken over the June 2021 allegation because the relevant law was not in place at the time.
In February 2023, the footballer was interviewed under caution over a sexual offence alleged to have happened in Barnet in February 2022.
Scotland Yard said the player is still under investigation for alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023.
The footballer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denies all the allegations.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023.
“A full file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service and detectives continue to work with prosecutors.
“Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers.”
