The discovery was made in Cook Road just before 12.30pm yesterday (September 8).
Officers are working to confirm the person’s identity and inform their next of kin.
Initial investigations have led officers to believe the body is that of a man.
The death is being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 12.26pm on Monday, 8 September to Cook Road, Dagenham after a body was found.
“Officers are working to confirm the person’s identity and inform their next of kin. Initial investigations have led officers to believe the body is that of a man.
“The death is being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.
“A scene is in place.”
