Conway PMS, located on Conway Road, Plumstead, has submitted plans for the construction of a side dormer to extend its existing facility, as outlined in a planning statement.
This proposal, which has been registered with the council under reference 25/4129/F, aims to add more office and clinical space to the practice to keep pace with the increasing health needs of the community.
The building’s loft will undergo a conversion, which includes internal alterations and updates to the roof structure.
The new development is said to be “modest in scale” and designed to blend seamlessly with the current structure, preserving the character and coherence of the neighbourhood.
Plumstead, known for its mix of brickwork and rendered facade finishes, contains predominantly two-storey residential buildings, including terraced houses.
The statement indicates that the upgrades at the 130.92-square-metre site will improve access and meet demand for health services.
It also underlines the role of the expansion as an example of “NHS investment at local level”.
Conway PMS has been operating as a GP surgery for several years, and the proposed developments are designed to enhance its services.
Past proposals for alterations at the site have included an application for the construction of a first-floor rear extension to create new office space, which was rejected.
Other changes, including in-house dental sessions and converting the first floor from residential to doctors’ surgery, have been approved in earlier years.
The proposal appears to align with Transport for London‘s standards, boasting a PTAL rating of 4, which suggests good accessibility to public transport services.
Consequently, the development is seen as a move to enhance local NHS facilities.
