It follows a number of planning enforcement notices being served to a site in Church Road on December 4 last year.
On the publicly available notices, it was alleged that mobile homes and touring caravans have been unlawfully stationed on the green belt land, with “building and engineering operations” having also been carried out.
Havering Council revealed yesterday (January 20) that the recipients of the notices have since “exercised their right to appeal” through the national Planning Inspectorate.
As such, the requirements of the notices have been suspended until the process for each case is complete and the Inspectorate’s decision has been issued.
No further enforcement measures can be taken under the notices.
However, a stop notice that was also issued will mean that any further development of the land shall be stopped, legally prohibiting additional works.
Cllr Ray Morgon, leader of Havering Council, said: “We know this issue is of significant concern to local residents and we are making sure clear and timely information is available.
“Our priority is protecting the community and ensuring that planning laws are followed.
“We appreciate the frustration residents have been feeling, and we’re pleased to see strong enforcement action in place while the appeals process is ongoing.”
