Tyler Hayward, 26, died at the scene after the knife attack in Chingford Mount Road on Sunday (July 6) at 9.14pm.
His family have issued a statement saying that Tyler had a “beautiful soul” with “the kindest of hearts”.
Chingford Mount Road was cordoned off up until earlier today when the crime scene was lifted.
Police at the same time were carrying out extensive enquiries, which led to a search taking place at the Port of Dover in Kent today (July 8),
A man, 22, has been arrested during the search this evening on suspicion of murder.
Officers are continuing to investigate the matter and are still calling for anyone with information to come forward.
The full statement from Tyler’s family reads: “We are struggling with the tragic loss of Tyler, a beautiful soul with the kindest of hearts.
“A much-loved son, grandson and brother, that will be missed immensely.
“We would appreciate privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with our loss.”
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, who is leading the investigation said: “I’d like to thank Kent Police and other agencies for their support as we carried out these checks, as well as members of the public who were disrupted while this vital work took place.”
