Chicory – Artisanal Kitchen & Coffee welcomed customers for the first time yesterday, offering a mix of Indian, English, and global flavours alongside fresh pastries, specialty coffee, and vegan-friendly options.
The team shared their excitement on Facebook, thanking visitors for their support on the first day.
Despite some initial challenges with their ordering system, they described the launch as a success and praised customer’s patience.
Chicory’s menu features a range of coffee options, from double espressos (£3.00) to their special hand-brewed filter (£4). For something different, customers can try a pistachio cream latte (£4.20) or a cardamom hot chocolate (£3.95).
Iced versions of several drinks are also available.
Alongside its drinks menu, the café serves a variety of food, including vegetable dum biryani (£4.95), chicken dum biryani (£5.95), and coriander chicken in different serving styles.
Customers can also find chilli fritters (£4.50), fried Maggi noodles (£2.99), and buffalo hot honey chicken wings (£6.99).
The café offers a selection of bagels, sandwiches, paninis, and croissant-based options, with fresh choices available daily.
Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy milkcakes in flavours like pistachio & rose, Oreo, and Biscoff (£6.99).
Located at 80 High Street, SE25 6EA, Chicory aims to build on the community spirit left behind by Communitea while expanding its menu to cater to a wider audience.
The café offers both sit-in and takeaway options and is expected to become a popular spot in the area.
The Chicory team said: “The support has been incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by.”
