Chelsea FC has been granted full planning permission to build a single-storey cabin at Stamford Bridge Stadium on Fulham Road that will house broadcasting and video assistant referee (VAR) facilities.
The structure will include an air conditioning unit.
Approval was given on Friday, December 5 by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham following a planning application made in September.
The decision notice confirmed that the development would have no unacceptable impact on residential amenity, visual character, nearby heritage assets or flood risk.
Officials concluded it complies with the National Planning Policy Framework, London Plan and Hammersmith & Fulham’s Local Plan.
Construction must begin within three years and the development must follow the approved plans.
Noise from any equipment must remain below existing background levels.
If the cabin is no longer used for broadcast or VAR purposes, it must be removed within three months and the land restored.
Crane operations for construction will require prior approval and risk assessments to ensure no encroachment onto London Underground assets.
The decision was signed by Joanne Woodward, director of planning and property for the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
