Property site Area 360 has listed Cheam as one of the safest places to live in London by assessing areas based on their deprivation levels.
These levels look at factors such as money, jobs, education, health, housing, and access to services.
A lower deprivation level means the area has better living conditions, more community resources, and is safer overall.
Cheam was given an average deprivation level of 3.5.
The crime rate stands at 78.6 crimes per 1,000 population, significantly lower than the London average of 133.1 crimes per 1,000 people.
Cheam benefits from its variety of housing options, both for first-time buyers and established families.
Nonsuch Park was once the site of Nonsuch Palace, a grand royal residence commissioned by Henry VIII in the 1530s.
Cheam Park is also a standout in the area, having won a Green Flag award in recent years.
Transport links are another draw, with a direct train service to central London, as well as easy links to Croydon, Epsom, Sutton, and Wimbledon.
Cheam is also home to several dining spots, including the elegant No.8 The Broadway, which brings classy central London-dining vibes to Sutton.
Community events like the Cheam Village Christmas Fayre, and Santa’s Sleigh, which has been running every year since 1966, adds to its family-friendly atmosphere.
Cheam, Carshalton, and Wallington have all been named as safe places in London to live by Area 360.
Hornchurch and Upminster in Havering in east London were ranked after Carshalton.
Earlier this year, Sutton was also named one of the best places to retire and live.
