Volunteers from Young Jains, who also organise study sessions and even a book club from their centre at Heathbourne Road in Stanmore, have been given £500 by Redrow Community Fund for their programme which has been going for nearly 40 years.
“This will help us continue our mission,” the charity’s Shaileen Shah said. “Our work is about creating connections with a sense of belonging in the community.”
Young Jains UK is a non-sectarian organisation set up in 1987 to promote the Jain spiritual philosophy’s practical use in life.
It is one of the voluntary groups and schools helping to improve community life that are now getting cash from the Redrow fund, which was set up last year by the Colindale Gardens developers.
