Jatinder Singh, also known as Vicky Singh Sangha, boarded a train at the major London station on October 2 last year just after 8.20am.
Once on the packed westbound service, the 35-year-old man used the fact that the train was extremely tight as an opportunity to try and conceal him sexually assaulting a woman onboard.
But the victim texted British Transport Police on 61016, leading to an officer recognising and arresting Sangha outside Kings Cross station days later.
Appearing at the London Inner Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
On November 25 this year, he was handed a 26-week prison sentenced, ordered to pay £187 surcharge and had to register with police for the next 10 years.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Steven Ridpath-Mitchell said: “Sangha’s opportunistic behaviour was totally unacceptable, the victim was trying to go about her daily life on her way to work and should not have been subjected to his abhorrent and despicable actions.
“It is down to the bravery of the victim and the keen observation of an officer that we have been able to arrest, charge and sentence Sangha and see him held accountable.
“The victim has bravely supported the investigation throughout, ensuring that Sangha will now have plenty of time to think about his actions while in prison and feel the consequences for years to come.
“If you experience or witness a sexual offence on the railway network or at a station, I urge you to report it to us on 61016, we will always take you seriously.”
