Police were called at 3.06am today (October 15) to Rushey Green where a man in his 20s was treated stab wounds.
He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
Borough Commander Trevor Lawry, who leads policing in Lewisham said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of this young man who have lost someone they love in such a tragic way.
“I know the community will have concerns following this incident, a dedicated homicide team is currently working to piece together this morning’s events.

“If you have any information for police, please do come forward.
“A crime scene will be in place for several hours as part of the investigation, and I thank local residents for their patience.”
A murder investigation has been launched, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Police were called hours later to Farley Mews, near Mountsfield Park, at 8.06am to reports of another stabbing.
The park is just a short distance from Rushey Green.
A man was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital, his condition is unknown at the time of reporting.
It is unclear at this time whether these two incidents are linked as we await information from the Metropolitan Police.
A cordon remains in place at Rushey Gren from the A205 by Catford Gyratory to Honley Road and Wildfell Road, as well as a separate one near Honley Road up to Mountsfield Park.
