Care home manager Tajá Young and her deputy ran a stall at Disability Festival in the Park where the London Fire Brigade also exhibited an engine as part of its community involvement programme.
The duo manage Chestnut Manor Care Home in Cambridge Park but also like to be involved in the community, so set up a stall at Wanstead’s Christchurch Green.
“Exhibiting gave us a chance to connect with the community,” Tajá said. “These events help our relationships with the public in a supportive environment.”
The festival was a day of music, arts and activities for people of all abilities, supported by Redbridge Council and community organisations.
Redbridge mayor Beverley Brewer spent time at Chestnut Manor’s stall discussing care services.
The annual festival is run by disabled people themselves, to meet diverse needs for independent living.
It included creative workshops and performances from comedians, artists and musicians of varying abilities.
