The drama set in Poplar, London, first aired on the BBC in 2012 and was originally based on the books by Jennifer Worth and her time as a midwife in the East End of London during the 1950s.
Since then, Call the Midwife has reached global audiences and has become one of the most popular dramas on the BBC.
Now, the show has shared an exciting update on the show’s future in a new filming update.

In a post shared to the official Facebook page for Call the Midwife, the BBC show confirmed that they had finished filming the “final scene of Series 15”.
Sharing: “NEWS! Call the Midwife completes filming on Series 15!
“It’s a wrap!!
“We have just finished filming the final scene of Series 15, and this year it fell to two of our longest-serving cast members, Stephen McGann and Jenny Agutter, to do the traditional clapperboard shot!
“So now there is little more than a month before we return to your screens with our brand new Christmas Special!
“WE CAN’T WAIT TO SHOW IT TO YOU!!
“Call the Midwife returns for a new Christmas Special, and Series 15 in 2026 xx.”
Previously, the BBC announced that Call the Midwife had been renewed for a two-part Christmas special as well as a prequel series and a movie.
