A service took place on Islington Green on Sunday, led by the Mayor of Islington and attended by residents, veterans, councillors, and community groups.
The ceremony included prayers, military bugle calls, and a two-minute silence in memory of all those who died in service to their country.

Wreaths were laid at the Islington Green War Memorial by veterans, community representatives, and members of the public.
Each wreath served as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and their families in the first and second world wars and other conflicts.

Islington mayor Cllr Jason Jackson said: “It was deeply moving to stand alongside residents of all backgrounds and generations as we honoured those who gave their lives for the freedoms we cherish.
“It is a time to reflect not only on the sacrifices of the past, but on the values we carry forward – unity, fairness, and hope.
“I want to thank everyone who joined us in marking this significant and solemn day.”

Remembrance events continued across the borough, including services at Spa Green Garden and Manor Gardens.

A representative from the Islington Veterans Association (IVA) said: “Remembrance carries different meanings for every veteran – whether one served four years or more than twenty years.
“It is a solemn time for reflection, remembering those comrades who are no longer with us and acknowledging the enduring sacrifices of their families.”
